    Hardwired Radar Detector

You probably have the rear view camera mirror option and never knew it was there. Flip the “night” lever at the bottom of the mirror to enable/disable the rear view camera mode on the mirror.

CT5-V Getting Rid of Fake Engine Noise

It’s a drastic difference. The “blender” type noise we’re all used to completely goes away with the fuse pulled. The engine sounds totally different: Try it.

CT5-V Getting Rid of Fake Engine Noise

Anyone else tried pulling F26 yet? Curious to hear what others think of the car’s true sound. I’ll say it again, pulling that fuse does away with the weird strange-pitch blenderesque sound these cars (and ZL1s) make at WOT inside the cabin… With the fuse pulled, it’s quieter at WOT, but finally...

CT5-V Getting Rid of Fake Engine Noise

For clarity, F26 is the main fuse for audio. Pull the fuse and you lose all audio. It’s not a permanent solution, but it’s a way to temporarily turn off the fake engine noise if you’re curious what the car really sounds like. Then put the fuse back in to get your stereo back.

CT5-V Getting Rid of Fake Engine Noise

OK, I did some testing, found the fuse, and did a test drive. TL;DR: the piped in audio makes a TON of difference. In fact, all the weird, higher-pitched-than-it-should-be sound we hear at WOT is piped in through the speakers. WOT sounds a lot more natural (and, sadly, quieter in the cabin) with...

Does anybody know what fuse(s) disable the audio system?

CT5-V Getting Rid of Fake Engine Noise

I wonder if we could try disabling the audio system fuse. Then going for a drive and seeing if the “engine” sounds different…

Hah! That’s me in the brown shorts and meme shirt outside, at I think the exact moment we were talking about piped in sound. Nice find Steve!

CT5-V Getting Rid of Fake Engine Noise

At the Sewell Q&A in May 2021, I clearly remember Brandon Vivian telling me there is piped in sound from a mic. It was in response to me talking about how BMW pipes in fake noise, and thanking Cadillac for having real sound, and he said they pump in noise too but it’s real from the engine via a...

    Steering Feel/Setting

Couldn’t agree more. We have electric steering assist, and unfortunately it provides zero feel. Sport and track just add artificial weight while not giving back any feel. I drive in tour as well.

    Spring Mountain Trip

sorry i guess i never answered your first question, how they chose which track to run. yeah they had multiple schools going on at the same time, we met some c8 school folks at lunch and happy hour. luck of the draw i guess. I'd love to do one of their bigger tracks.

    Spring Mountain Trip

We ran a variant of the east track that has the bowl instead of the right turn and U-turn shown in the east course map. It was called the East Bowl.

    2nd gear 6MT

This car is my ninth GM RWD 6-speed manual vehicle (two C5 Z06s, five C6 Z06s, one Camaro ZL1 1LE, and now the 5V BLackwing). Every single one has had the same occasional notchy / high-effort second gear engagement when cold (i.e. first few upshifts after a cold start, worse in cold weather). I...
