I did not buy the extra insurance and it was the correct decision. If you have any track experience and can recognize when a car is nearing its limits of traction, you will be fine. The track is pretty generous in width so if and when you start to slide, there is time and space to correct...
Have you checked the weatherstripping around the trunk? The windo seals may not show any water penetration but if rain or pressure washing is going down the back window right into the trunk the moisture would definitely make its way through the rear shelf and seat backs to that location.;shrug
Was there a large drop in outdoor temperature after you parked your car? If so, was the interior humid or have wet floor mats? Feel the carpeting near door sills and headliner around all door openings.
Are pedal extenders a thing? I know I’ve seen decorative pedal covers, maybe there are some thicker versions. Worst case I’ll swap my 4 for your 5 if it helps😜
A short (1-2mile) drive at neighborhood speeds minimizes but does not eliminate. I think they need the heat generated from a longer, higher speed drying session to truly solve. Problem is, who wants to go drive and brake hard when you just scrubbed the brake dust off your wheels.
I might try...
My experience has been that the worst cases are with washing and direct water flow into the caliper/pad area. Driving in rain, slush, and snow has caused some minor sticking. The longer the car sits with wet brakes the problem obviously gets worse. To the extent that a clear pad imprint on the...
Totally agree. Far worse than every other car I’ve owned. Wife made fun of me for wasting time giving it a quick drive around the neighborhood after washing it to prevent this. The next wash, I took her “advice” to put it in garage without a drive and literally ended up spinning rear wheels...
An oil change caused codes? I call bullshit. Plus, they have a damn computer to clear codes as far as I know. I’d start with service manager and work your way up from there. Glad we don’t have emission testing in MI.
I was the only 4 (manual) in my run group and our group was the fastest of three on Aug 23-24. The fastest time was a 5 Auto with a similar 1:52something. I was only able to to turn 1:54s in the 4. Just couldn’t hang on longer stretches. I did however win the autocross at least.
Rather than hitting V Mode at each start, set up your My Mode to your preferred exhaust, steering, suspension, etc. and the car will keep those settings.
I don’t ever anticipate a fifth passenger in mine so I’ve disconnected the center belt at lower attachment point and then let it fall into the trunk when folding down the rear seat back. Rolled it up neatly and have never seen it since.
For others with track day abuse on their 4BW, Rock Auto now has our factory brake pads and rotors available. At the best pricing I’ve seen anywhere. Roughly $600 for f&r pads and $1100 for all four rotors.
Totally agree. On track, regardless of speed, it doesn’t happen. Has to have something to do with the frequency of driver input. Were you at Waterford Hills track day last weekend? I was supposed to be there but had a schedule conflict. I let my son take mine and he said he may have met you.
Anyone noticed an occasional vague feeling from the electronic steering system? Most notable at highway speeds where it feels like your steering wheel input isn’t felt by the car until all the sudden the car wakes up and gives you almost more electronic assist and output than you were looking...
