THEY can't change anything on a customer order without your input. The status code process is such that when the car is scheduled for production, they already know they have all the parts to make it as ordered.
I have one for my 5. I don't use the straps. It stays put without them. I find it very handy. Great for your Costco items. :D I throw my pickleball gear in it, frisbee and anything else that needs a compartment. You can slide it to different spots when you need room for something else...
There is a small window after acceptance that an order can be modified. I can't remember before what status code though (maybe 3000 or 3100). Time can be very short between accepted and then.
Very hard to predict as they are fluid week to week. Even an order that has constraints can squeak through on a given day depending on the availability of the constrained item(s).

Same for me, but was Jan '22. Less than MSRP with pre-order discount at the time and Costco discount.
I won't say always, but Sewell is known for MSRP (or lower) sales. Several months is a long time to wait for an allocation these days. Plus, having to put down a deposit is not required much...
