With all the talk here about Mustangs and Blackwings, maybe I should chime in as I owned a 2020 Bullitt before I bought my first CT5 V Blackwing.
Here’s my (very subjective) input based on my experience:
Clear Advantage Blackwing:
- handling
- steering
- power (the Bullitt was no slouch but...
Around town my 30 year old 5 second MR2 Turbo is more fun than my 3.5 second Caddy.
The Caddy has so much power that it gets you in trouble too fast for it to be fun just tootling around in the city. (Though I make up for that more than a little by putting the exhaust in track mode and leaving...
Also, why would they suddenly be holding up 25s to deal with "issues" after shipping 3 model years of cars with the same engines without any pause or recall regarding any such issues, even after Car + Driver famously blew up the engine in their own long-term Blackwing?
I'm on my second CT5 V BW...
Steering feel bad?
Certainly not a complaint of mine - I think it’s amazing, frankly - nor of the majority of car journalists and bloggers who have reviewed the CT5 Blackwing, many of whom even praise the steering feel specifically.
And these are folks who drive lots of cars a year, dozens...
Yes. Absolutely.
Still, it makes a ton of sense to look for a vehicle that is likely to enjoy low depreciation, even more if there’s a legit hope of some appreciation.
Minimizing losses is as important as maximizing gains: Why burn your money if you don’t have to?
Also, many of the cars that...
Over the past few years Doug has fallen far behind Hagerty and Throttle House, to cite just two examples, in terms of quality of his reviews.
But I think that as the operator of a auction house (which probably makes him more money than Throttle House's reviews earn for Thomas and James) he has...
References a car I own (CT5 BW), a car I used to own (CTS-V wagon), next car I want own (SC500), and a car I recommended to a friend as more likely to keep its value than the Golf R he is thinking of getting (Corolla GR).
I think Doug’s on the money but would rather he kept his opinion about the...
I’m only semi-following this as I recently traded in my ‘22 for a ‘24 spec’ed exactly as I want it (and frankly I’m not keen on the new fascia, though I admit that’s a matter of personal taste and opinion).
So, apologies if this is answered, but how are you guys ordering ‘25 CT5 V BWs if the...
Back to the topic at hand.
If the stats at this article are correct and I understand them correctly (both fairly wild assumptions ), maybe it is to be expected that a dozen or so members of this forum have experienced engine break downs?
Maybe that’s not even all that bad in terms of the...
Someone whose engine is blown is more likely to be active.
If everything is going swimmingly, there’s a damn good chance that you came on here to say hello to everyone in the giddy honeymoon phase of first receiving your car, and that you then carried on as if you never joined the forum.
In my...
Yeah, what’s with the folks that resent others for making a wise purchase?
Those kinds of comments are even more common on social media than here.
Even if you are a prospective buyer and so would like to buy at a lower price, in the long run you want a car that holds its value.
