I can't imagine anyone being unhappy with the 2500s. As I stated in an earlier post, I have used the 2500s in several cars and have always been very pleased with them. Plus, the nice thing about pads is if you dont like them they are easy enough to replace.
After about 500 miles, I can state that the Ferodo 2500 front pads are an excellent match for performance of the 5BW. The pads have more initial bite than OE without being grabby like AutoX hero pads (like the AX6) or the OE pads on my old Focus RS. Dust isn't completely crazy, either. I...
Did nearly 300 miles on a round trip today. Some pretty empty country roads. Lots of unmentionable fun. What an absolutely superb car in every single way.
As I think I've mentioned elsewhere, I prefer the sound of straight through vs chambered mufflers. It's not that the 5BW doesn't already sound pretty darned good, but I know that a Corsa Sport catback would probably be about perfect.
Now if we could only get just a little bit of blower whine...
The reason I suggested lugging was because your description of the car jerking reminds me of times when I have accidentally driven a car (or motorcycle) at low enough revs to where it is bucking a little. The fact that it only happens in 2nd is curious. Are we sure it doesn't act like that at...
I have run 2500s on several other cars over the last 10-15 years and they are superb for my needs. Not a full track pad although they do get even stronger with a little heat in them. They are known for giving a firm pedal feel and having good progression without being grabby. The dust is...
That's funny - when I drove the 4BW I thought to myself how nice and short the gears were compared to my 5BW 6sp. I haven't seen a 'speed in gear' chart for the 4BW but they felt appropriate to me (and I love short gearing in other cars I've owned).
I'm not sure how much the differential is even coming it to play at such low revs (i.e. out of the powerband). I have driven a 6sp 4BW and is felt superb with none of the herky jerky stuff you are describing and I was just in Sport mode when driving it. I was driving it a bit harder than what...
Update: installed Ferodo 2500 front pads from KNS Brakes. Did the burnishing this morning and they immediately have more bite than the OE pads without being grabby. Will report back after a doing some more driving. The Ferodos have the slot for the OE brake pad sensor, too, unlike some pads...
I almost ordered the black wheels for my black 5BW but went with the aluminum ones and I love them. I think they would look awesome on that red 4BW.
flipray - so with the correct shorter front tires, no rubbing either front or rear? Even under hard driving and compressions?
Sorry to see you getting rid of your Blackwing but, as someone lucky enough to have a 5BW 6sp and a 2020 GT350R, I totally understand making that move. The 5BW is amazing amazing amazing but the Voodoo motor alone makes the 350s so much more engaging and exciting. I'm sure you'll come home...
I haven't driven the G80/822 yet but I have driven the F80 M3. I have also driven a 4BW. There is no comparison in terms of which one made me smile more. I think the number of people on this forum coming from M3s. RS6s, etc is telling.
