Is there any way to increase the brightness of the controls which are a horizontal line at the bottom of the instrument panel stack?

Don't they require cleaning and then oiling them? If so, a major PITA that makes them undesirable in my opinion. Don

Both cars dipsticks are identical other than the ends, one is grey, the other is red. I THINK I know which is the Blacwings but not sure.
