    CT4-V Cadillac vs. GM Dealerships

I hear you but ideally you charge at home at night while you sleep and always leave the next day with a full charge so you really never need to charge on the road unless you are on a road trip. In the past 5 years I have never need to supercharge on the road. That said, even if you do need to...

    CT4-V Cadillac vs. GM Dealerships

Sounds like a defective end user. 😂 Running out of battery charge is no different than running out of gas.

    CT4-V Cadillac vs. GM Dealerships

It is not the heat that impacts range, it is the cold. EVs are definitely not for everyone. I have one but compliment it with two other ICE based vehicles. That said, the Tesla Model 3 does all the daily driving duty. I bought the standard Model 3 over four years ago and it has been great...

No cylinder deactivation on the 5Wing Manual transmission?

That 1>4 shift was the most annoying thing ever and dumb, as people would either give it more gas and burn more fuel while first gear so it wouldn't lock out 2nd gear or buy the skip shift eliminator for $10. Start/Stop, DFM/AFM cylinder deactivation, skip shift. Just leave it alone GM. I...

    CT4-V Cadillac vs. GM Dealerships

True, dealers will have to continue to adapt though. Tesla has seemed to figure it out. I bought a couple from them and it was so simple. I also really like the mobile service as well. I needed a couple of 12v battery replacements over the past 5 years, click service in the app, they text...

    CT4-V Cadillac vs. GM Dealerships

I would assume they have no idea what Spring Mountain even is. This is an enthusiast car sold by non-enthusiast dealers/sales folks. It is a great car with a branding problem. Ideally GM should have a dedicated performance division where all they sell would be things like Camaros, Corvettes...

CT4-V Steering wheel heater LED bulb burnt out

Interesting, I first thought maybe you needed the retrofit but your saying it used to work? Does the steering wheel still get warm? https://gmauthority.com/blog/2023/03/2022-cadillac-ct4-heated-steering-wheel-retrofit-under-way/ Does the interior light dimmer have any effect?

No cylinder deactivation on the 5Wing Manual transmission?

Yeah, it is surprising they would have two different engine parts numbers for the same car. They say they felt it wasn't needed with the A10 and I kinda get it, then also said they had the titanium rods available so decided to use them in the M6 to help it rev a little better and close the gap...

    CT4-V Cadillac vs. GM Dealerships

Yeah, in my experience the sales folks never seem to know more about the car than I do. I usually wind up educating them about the car if we ever get into a discussion. The good news is most of the information is available online and any gaps in information can be had from enthusiasts on...

Loaded 4BWs don't make sense to me

Correct, very different cars. - Engine - CT4-V houses a 2.7L dual-volute turbocharged I4 engine with 325 horsepower and 380 lb. -ft. of torque, while CT4-V Blackwing offers a 3.6L Twin-Turbo V6 with 472 horsepower and 445 lb. -ft. - Tremec M6 option - No Lift Shift, Luk Twin Disc clutch or...

Loaded 4BWs don't make sense to me

If you can afford it and you are happy with it then that is all that really matters.

Loaded 4BWs don't make sense to me

Yep, that is why these cars continue to sit... I find it comical that there is a $27k delta between these two cars. It would be one thing if these were real track packages with extra track hardware or something. Mechanically, they are the same car. You could buy 2nd car with that price delta.

No cylinder deactivation on the 5Wing Manual transmission?

Remember the 8-6-4 debacle? GM has been at this tech for so long and it only seems to create more problems than it solves. https://www.drivingline.com/articles/cadillacs-8-6-4-variable-displacement-engine-was-ahead-of-its-time-and-its-tech/...

No cylinder deactivation on the 5Wing Manual transmission?

You mean the 4BW M6 cars having titanium connecting rods while the A10 cars don't? If so, yes, it is a real thing. They claim the A10 cars didn't really need them since the A10 transmission helped keep the average RPM up so they saved cost on those engines and if you figure the majority of...

I see a lot of people not liking the sunroof option

If you prefer a sunroof I am sure there is a car on a dealer lot with one since that is all they seem to order. :) I don't care for them, they add cost, weight, complexity, heat and increased potential for noise and leaks and you lose head room. Not to mention it alters roof line styling...

No cylinder deactivation on the 5Wing Manual transmission?

I have read they are the same. It is it easier for them to build just one iteration of the LT4 that can work in both M6 and A10 applications and just disable it in the tune as needed. However, on the 4BW the LF4 engines in the M6 cars have titanium connecting rods while the A10 cars don't...

No cylinder deactivation on the 5Wing Manual transmission?

The net of it is that AFM is only worth about ~1mpg. More trouble than it is worth. You need special lifters that are known to fail, ECU programming, AFM exhaust valves that need to open and close when AFM activates and deactivates so the exhaust doesn't sounds like crap. Those exhaust valves...

    4BW LF4 Oil Consumption

Yeah, it is interesting since when you research the topic it seems like "it depends" on the engine and design, etc. For example, this write up from BMW states it very clearly but then my son has a Honda Civic with a 1.5l turbo and doesn't seem to consume any oil...

    4BW LF4 Oil Consumption

Yep, that is the easy part of the DIY oil change, ;) but valid point. The algorithm of the oil life monitor has improved over the years. It tracks number of cold starts, time running after start, engine RPMs, load, etc. Since I don't drive much and take shorter trips I am sure it factors...

    4BW LF4 Oil Consumption

The first one at 1000 miles is the initial oil change. Some do it at 500 miles, some around 1000. This can be debated to death and the LF4 doesn't specifically call for it but I prefer to get that initial oil out of there as a best practice as I have done with all my performance cars over the...
