The ZHP is such a perfect car....small, quick, nimble, somewhat raw (though not as raw as an e30) and roomy enough for 4. Its a joy to drive and just loves to rev and rewards doing so....I really love it. Its about the same size as the 4 BW but is lighter and feels so much smaller. I enjoy...

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

None of the unplowed sections I drove were un driven over....though I did plow some snow here and there. I had one opportunity to drive through deep virgin snow....perhaps if it hadn't also been a bit of a hill I would have gone for it. Back in the day with my Audi - when it snowed 1 ft+ I used...

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Was out and about in the snow today - including on some unplowed roads etc. Car did great (running in snow/ice mode with Alpine snows). I ran the PDR for much of it but its probably only so exciting.

New 4 BW owner from central NJ

I've only been on the Dragon Twice - the first time in my Audi S4 - probably 2008-2010 or thereabouts - in was October and a bit rainy and there weren't many cars at all - I was able to to 4 full runs only really slowed down on one by a bunch of Harley's. This last time was in December and while...

New 4 BW owner from central NJ

Enjoy! Old guy here too. Funny though....the day I picked up my 4 V BW from Atlanta to drive to DC I detoured to drive the Tail of the Dragon and managed several .9g+ (very tight) turns. I was amazed how well the car carried its weight and could hold the road...

    In a dilemma… Help.

My wife drives MT but she learned on an old diesel Rabbit so she shifts very early and low in the power band. Our ZHP (her car) really wants to rev out to get in the power and she is always bogging it down. Its very painful for me as a passenger. Luckily I mostly drive when its the two of us...

    In a dilemma… Help.

We have an Alcantra steering wheel on our BMW ZHP and while its great its been a royal pain to maintain over the years. It greases up and flattens down pretty quickly and I have to spray it with special Alcantra cleaner and scrub it with the brush. I can never get it back to its original shape...

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

Back in the mid-1990s my wife and I were on a 3 week vacation in Turkey where we did lots of driving, including at times picking up hitchhikes, such as this wild Aussi couple we ended up hanging with for a few days. We were crossing a pretty remote stretch South to North - heading back to...

Yeah it didn't take long....but when he was playing Flexible in Hollywood (mid-80s) I'm not sure he had joined Alcatrazz just yet. I don't know for certain though. He was playing very small clubs and many at the shows were Zappa heads I knew and traded tapes with. He's certainly s guitar god...

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

No doubt. My one and only time (in the mid 1980s) I was a passenger on a work trip driving through and the driver who fit in more and was familiar with the place had me get down low in my seat so I couldn't be seen....LOL.

I've only driven it once in deep snow. Last April we were visiting friends in Vermont for the solar eclipse and after delaying a day due to 18 inches of snowfall arrived at the foot of their 1/2 mile semi-plowed mountain top snow & mud driveway. We were riding on Alpine snows and I think I put...

    In a dilemma… Help.

Supposedly the rotors aren't drilled on the BWs as Caddy was getting noise complaints on some prior cars and felt the typical Caddy buyer wants a calm noise free driving experience. Its amazing how good the brakes are considering - kudos to the engineers. Its possible the 5 BW I came across a...

    SOLD: Metallica M72 Concert - 2x tickets - 2-day - Tampa, FL

Yes exactly that. I hand delivered several cases of them to folks i knew on the east coast when i lived in LA and got them directly from his manager. I never thought to get them signed by Steve - though had plenty of chances. I still have a few copies of my own of course as well as live tapes I...

I still don't understand it as well as I should. PTM snow/ice seems to turn traction off a bit....I'm very confused....even after Spring Mountain...OK I'm old and a bit senile what can I say....but yeah driving fast and furious is still no problem...

    First time V-car owner

Awesome. My father-in-law (recently deceased) flew F-4s in Vietnam back in the mid-late 1960s. Back in the late 90s early 2000s I drove in (and won) a street race called the meatball (loosely patterned after the Cannonball). The race was originally conceived in the 1980s by navy pilots & radar...

Cool...so whats NF on the tail of that fighter jet? I assume its a jet....did you fly in the Air Force? (I used to work with a lot of those guys as well). Also don't forget to give us some car impression as you drive and experience it more...

I cant stand Ratti and can't bring myself to watch any more of his reviews. The C & D review was great and spot on. It describes all the reasons I chose the Caddy. MT being a huge factor as well. I possibly would be driving the Alpha if it had MT....the engine is sweet and it looks great. I've...

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

Apologies, but I do have an amusing little tale concerning my first experience in Anacostia (think Camden for those of you who don't know DC). I was driving (so it is at least somewhat car related). It was 1980 and I was 19 trying to take a new way home out of DC where I worked back to Maryland...

Look don't be so judgemental. Many would refer to me as a liberal and I'm a pretty nice guy, pay plenty of taxes, own (long) guns, and have many views on things you might find surprising (and even agree with). I have often called myself a bleeding heart libertarian...and I don't consider that to...
