Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

No worries. The new M2 has the S58 engine as in the G80 M3 and G82 M4. The Supra has the B58. It all gets very confusing.

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

Aside from the obvious (?) event at Spring Mountain that we get for free (you can also go on your own if you want to pay for it), both BMW and Porsche have dedicated tracks where you can go and drive their cars with their gas, their tires and on their insurance, and have some serious fun...

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

I owned the OG M2, hated it. Way overrated IMHO. The new one is too ugly to consider. Z4 is a convertible, and I can't track it, so it was never a consideration. And it got beat with the ugly stick too. I still have the BW. I love that thing. Walker Toyota, Miamisburg, which is about 30...

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

I had the same concern, and posted/asked about it on the Supra forum. Apparently it's not an issue for very tall people, even old tall people, even older, taller than me people. So I figured, if they can do it, I can do it. And yes, I can do it if I think about it, no problem. It's just...

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

Thanks. The interior (mine is black) can be a bit claustrophobic, I concur. The windows are small, there is no visibility out the rear except for straight back, it is not a large car so the seats are tight, the console is close to you and you sit kind of low (which is good because there's...

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

I didn't want to start a new thread but I did want to share, since we are all (or mostly) car guys and gals, and it was a somewhat atypical experience, buying the Supra. Apologies in advance for the lengthy wordy post, but I am technically working today, and annoyed with work stuff right now so...

Dealer finally fixed driver window noise. 11.5 hours of labor. 6 weeks in the shop. 120 road test miles.

Kudos not so much to the "dealer" as the tech, who kept at it. Many of them just work off of book rates and want to get finished ASAP. What is the window channel, is that the trim around the glass, or underneath the trim, or under the glass?

    Attempted Theft in Austin

So... many years ago I moved to the town that I'm in now (Cary, NC) which has an above average income level, low crime and other characteristics that make it often ranked as one of the best cities to live in. When I first got here, I had too much stuff and not enough house, so I put a bunch...

CT5-V Build thread silver ct5v bw auto

OMG. Ah, so "Stocks_dad" must have something to do with the stock market, not "keeping the car stock". LOL Or perhaps your cat is named socks, and you misspelled your handle? I once had a highly modified C4 track car, and it was a constant battle keeping it working/running/performing as...

    Michelin PS4S issue

I presume that "GM will pay" only applies to the dealer doing it. Most of what we see in this thread is alignment issues, most if not all of those are not tire failures. Many (most?) BMW M cars come with Michelin PS4S as do several other performance cars. They are generally regarded as the...

I really thought there were no downsides to debadging.

LOL, as a former BMW enthusiast, it was common forum fodder to make fun of the "normal" cars that had ///M badges on them. When I had my Chevy SS, I got so tired of people asking me about it and wanting to talk about it, that I debadged it. That didn't fool anyone.

    Family Guy CT5 Blackwing?

I didn't realize that the show was still on! The first three seasons were hilarious, and it was one of the few things that I could use to relate to my youngest stepson at the time. Even though the show was totally inappropriate for a 9 year-old. Or a 45 year old...

    Newbie questions..trade a M4 for 2025 CT5-V Blackwing

Generally speaking, dealers look at wholesale pricing to determine your trade value, and that doesn't list options. A knowledgeable dealer will see your car and recognize those packages for what they are, and probably give you (if you push) a few thousand extra. But generally, no, options...

    Attempted Theft in Austin

Brad, I'm glad it worked out for you in the end, although it's certainly a PITA to deal with the aftermath. And kudos to the dealer. I generally fall into the camp of "it's insured, I'm not going to lose sleep over worrying about it" but you can't help it, especially with a car like the BW...

Conti Extreme Contact dws06 plus vs. Michelin Pilot Sport all season 4 ?

First, let me say that I've had both tires (on different cars) and I prefer the Michelin. That said, it's a little difficult because every tire performs differently on every car, as suspensions are tuned for certain characteristics. My Mom used to work at Michelin and she needs her pension, so...

    Newbie questions..trade a M4 for 2025 CT5-V Blackwing

I can't really address any of the questions any better than anyone else has, but I will echo @668LT4's comments - I came from a G82 M4 properly equipped with 3 pedals, and never once ever even for a moment regretted the move to the Blackwing (also properly equipped). Best of luck to you!

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

I've been spoiled rotten by the BW and some other previous cars, and so the Miata and BRZ/86 are just too low powered for me. And kind of disappointing inside, great cars, lots of fun, well made, etc., but really cheap-feeling plastics. The yellow was only offered in 2023. Right now all you...

    Used Value Trend

Dealers are famous (infamous?) for not accurately listing cars. I wonder how many people see that "one owner" flag and never bother to look at the CarFax? I'll bet it's a lot. And then when they go to sue 6 months later, the web page is long since gone and they can't prove it ever happened.
