Is the data sharing completely over with?

My biggest gripe against all of this was that the GM threshold for braking and acceleration were based on the performance of a 4-cylinder Malibu, not a Blackwing. For example, whereas On-Star might flag me for an aggressive throttle application, you guys would just call me a pussy.

    Motorcycles, anyone?

This is very true, and an excellent point. I prefer to consider myself in the first group rather than the latter. Back in my riding days I had an absolute firm no-exceptions rule that I never rode after drinking. Period. However, I will admit to a few close calls after riding for several...

That Ducati looks the business! I hate to fall back on stereotypes, but I could never be a Harley rider.

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

The late great Stanley Kowalski will be our new head of NHTSA. Well known for driving the challenger on the streetcar of desire, he will lead us into more oil, drill baby!

    Motorcycles, anyone?

Good yet sobering thought. Since we're neighbors, where do you work? If God-forbid something happens to me, I'll go there and ask for the guy with the cool car. ;)

    Motorcycles, anyone?

I just sold my C6 Corvette. I bought it on a bit of a whim and to use on track because I don't want to drive the BW on track (too expensive to risk and too fast for my weenie self). As it turned out, I only went to the track once (had a great time, but it really exposed the limitations of a...

    Santa, won't you buy me a Mercedes-Benz?

Doh! Yes I did. Right over my head! And yes, I concur with your other post... I try to avoid that whole gift-giving thing, but the wife insists and the (step) kids were brought up under the philosophy that you show your love by buying stuff. I do what I can, but years of indoctrination are...

How to remove wireless charger from console? 5BW

Mine barely functions, but at least it doesn't rattle.

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

With the exception of people who didn't save enough or had an unexpected and financially debilitating health condition pop up, I'm not seeing a lot of negative options from retirees. As long as we don't listen to morons like Susie Ormond, I think the majority of us are well positioned to do...

    Santa, won't you buy me a Mercedes-Benz?

I appreciate the suggestion, but I would never trust my life to anything from harbor freight.

    Santa, won't you buy me a Mercedes-Benz?

OK, no, seriously, I don't want a M-B, but I do need Christmas ideas. For me. Or more accurately, for the kids (27 & 30) to buy for me. Everything I need, I buy, which makes it hard for others to shop for. Except perhaps fancy Swiss watches, which are out of their budget range anyway. Any...

    2025 M5 vs. 2025 CT5-V BW

Didn't Cadillac do a CTS-V wagon at some point, which as I recall, did not sell very well? There are too few enthusiasts who want one and are willing to buy one new. It's like the BMW 5 series wagon, everyone loves them now, but when they were new, few people (in the USA) would buy one, and so...

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

Hey guys, thanks for trashing my thread. Why can't we all just stay on topic and away from politics? Ain't nobody going to win any arguments on an Internet forum.

Former luker, finally found my 5BW

Congrats! Best color, nice choice. I would have thought in Nevada that you could drive year-round. Does Reno get a lot of snow?

    2025 CT5 & CT5-V Blackwing Order Support Guide

In my limited experience with bmw's ccb, they performed fine when cold. YMMV. I still prefer the pedal feel of steel brakes, but with BBW that may not be as large of a factor. I'm still too cheap to get them just to aid in cleaning.

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

I had not heard about the Supra, that's too bad. It's an expensive car for a track toy, and I had a Z4 which is similar and I didn't care for it all that much. The more I hear about the BRX/FRS the more I like it, although the recent class action on the engines has me more concerned. I have...

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

I like that perspective, thanks. Financially I'm planning to live past 95 although realistically, that's unlikely. Also, I don't consider any inheritance in my planning, although it's very likely that I will outlive my mother, and she's probably not going to spend all of her money before then...

    2025 M5 vs. 2025 CT5-V BW

I've driven the M5CS (previous gen) and agree with others that it is the one to get, not the current fugly hybrid generation. For me, the manual is a must-have, so the BMW never came into consideration, despite my extensive history with the brand. Also, if you value your comfort, the caddy has...

    Software update letter from Cadillac?

Sorry, I just now found the other thread about this. Linked post explains with a link to the recall instructions for the dealer. Doesn't seem like it's that critical to me. Not worth a special trip.

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

True dat. I will look into it some more, although honestly as a track car, I was looking for something a bit less expensive. Primarily space. No place to park. Finances come in a close second, as around here aside from the cost of buying the extra cars, I have to insure them and pay...
