I got a ding at work (previous car). Parked in a space almost scraping my rims against the curb and some bozo parks their giant SUV right next to me and dinged my car. Good 1/8" deep and paint removal. Thank god for PDR and touch up paint along with a good orbital
Dang, and here's why I hate Tall Steve. He's handsome as the day is long, great cars, and a beautiful wife. Put funny hat on me and I'm a freaking garden gnome
In California, in my limited experience, cars less than 4 years old but sold as used only have a smog fee applied to them. The laws here crack me up. I pay some minimal fee to get out of any testing for 8 years. In that time, I could be running full catless and whatever else is bad, but never...
I like cars. I typically only have them from 2-6 years with some of them being new, some used (2 out of 3 BMWs). I've had 10 cars in the last 30 years. I've done a lot of commuting with anywhere from 25 to 110 miles a day. None of my cars have actually been problematic. I just get tired of...
None of my BMWs required more than basic maintenance in the combined 60k miles that I put on the two cars. One thing the BMWs had on my 4BW, i was able to put them on the quick jacks and lift them without an 18+ page thread
Probably a dealership thing. Lots of money to be made off people that don't understand what they're getting. Honda tried to sell me something similar on my wife's Passport. I can do better with what I have in the garage and I enjoy doing that kind of thing on my cars.
While not quite octegenarian (gimme 20 years), I'm agreed. Also, this guy gets continual track time, I get it a couple times a year unless there's a pandemic, then i get it less.
he was running 1:44 which is faster than me by about 12 seconds and just slightly faster than another 4 Blackwing that was running about 1:52. I'm guessing he's a better driver than I. I haven't found many 4BWs that ran Laguna on a track day. I only have 2 20 minute sessions on Laguna Seca...
Agreed, if I had bought an M340i x-drive with non-square 195s (like the M440i that I had) I would probably still be posting on the M-Lite boards. And yes, that Dakota Leather is definitely not worth the the extra charge
I finally read your blog post and have to agree. I had a 23 M440i X-drive convertible, but it just wasn't doing it for me, having to drop another couple grand to get wheels and tires fit for the track, the suspension never seemed to be the right ride and the parking brake right next to the roof...
I'm hoping the Cadillac will be my last purchase, getting to the age where I shouldn't wear out another car since I work from home, so not going to worry about losing the BMW discount (my old employer had a $1.5k discount for BMWs and $1k discount for Minis). I'll keep the BMW CCA membership...
Saw a video of a guy at Laguna Seca with an Integra Type S that had a tire fold over on itself. Gotta wonder if it started out under pressure and mediocre driving teamed with track curbing might have been contributing factors
Thanks for the info. I'm south of one region, north of the other, so i'm going to join for the next year to see what I end up with.
I don't think i'll be going back to BMW soon enough to get my discount, although I might renew in at the end of my two years just in case. I'm pretty happy with...
Is anyone here a member? Is it worth the $100 or so a year?
I was a BMW CCA member and all I got was constant spam to buy raffle tickets. No invites to anything out of the ordinary aside from car control clinics that aren't discounted
I like that with the Blackwing (CT4 in my case), I can drive in tour mode with a nice compliant but sporty suspension and get more serious incrementally from there. I prefer it over my brother's 330 ZHP package. Too stiff, always felt harsh. My Z4 (2nd gen) seemed to be a better handling car...
my wife decided to experiment with my phone and oriented it so that the top was pointing to the right instead of the way that I usually do it pointing to the left. That seemed to yield much better results. Still doesn't charge very fast though
