A nice set of snow tires does wonders in winter. I think the worst time to drive is actually early spring when all the ice and snow melts away and fills in those dang huge pot holes and u can’t see them in water.
It’s funny that bmws and all other cars are moving to oil changes in the 10-15k mile range while the BW group goes back to the 3k range using synthetic!
For CT5 BW owners what is the avg milage for oil change? I’m at 60 percent oil life and I have only 1250 miles. I’m going this Friday to get initial oil done. But at current ratio of miles to oil life, I’m assuming 3000 miles equals an oil change? Can any BW high milage peeps chime in?
Make sure you PPF the rear door and quarterpanels pretty high up. I originally did it up to the door crease on the bottom 3rd and it wasn’t high enough. Just had to do a hack job to get it up higher until I can get back into shop. Rock chips up to half of rear door at minimum.
What is the stop speed for 3rd gear in CT5 BW? I know I hit around 128-129 in the auto on the long straight away on east track. Can 3rd gear go that high?
My first trip was in A10, and it was my first time in track with any car. The amt of info you have to suck in is a lot and having a10 was a blessing. I’m going back in Nov and got a manual this time but having the auto initially helped me a lot.
At SM, instructors said that anything lower than PTM sport will pull throttle during hard acceleration and if u lose traction during turns. So u can put engine to low setting but ptm to sport or track 1 or track 2 and it won’t cut throttle.
I don’t think anything happens in manual. I asked the spring mt guys and I know they don’t know all but they also said nothing happens with that with a manual.
They explain that u should be in ptm sport to give the car some ability to spin tire and not pull. U don’t want to turn off all the nanny’s because that causes the car to go sideways which makes it diff in 0-60. They teach u at class how to do launch control which will help your 0-60.
I think most of the folks in 4BW on east loop were doing 125ish. So it isn’t too slow. Although i scratch my head when some folks said instructors were running 116 on 4BWs while teach folks. Crazy.
When I was at spring mountain, they somehow had it setup where you push v button twice and it went in track mode with ptm sport. Anyhow know how to set this up? Right now I just have my v-mode as street but would be nice to be able to push v mode twice and go into ptm sport quickly.
