Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

I just pass off all the boring work to junior engineers. It’s part of my mentoring role.

    5BW burning oil

Good chance they used the wrong oil as well.

    In a dilemma… Help.

As long as the volume control is rotary I’m cool with that. I hate the up/down push type buttons. I use the volume knob exclusively for mute and volume. Very quick and instant, easy to reach for without looking.

Ouch. Go big or go home.

    In a dilemma… Help.

Not really, it’s all mental attitude. Shifting the focus away from being unhappy because I want something else versus being happy with what I have. I’m very satisfied with my car and have no need to look for something else.

    In a dilemma… Help.

There are several aftermarket options for track data/video logging at various price points. For street a high end dash cam is sufficient. The SA seats on the other hand are better to be in the car as opposed to a later retrofit. I find the SA seats to be very comfortable and the CF looks...

    In a dilemma… Help.

Sure, it’s a money making scheme. Just like airlines charging for baggage and WiFi. If you don’t need it, don’t sign up (or don’t check in baggage). I prefer to use it for the native navigation most of the time. But to say the price is insane doesn’t cut it. $30 today is a meaningless amount of...

    In a dilemma… Help.

Makes me laugh when people buy a $100K car with 13mpg and think $30 a month is insane. How much do you spend every month for coffee or booze? Or maybe you guys are living in your car evading the repo man and supporting a bad crack habit?

    In a dilemma… Help.

I was referring to the 24 and earlier cars with 4G. For people trying to decide if they should get a 24 or 25. I personally don’t like the wraparound display on the 25 5BW. It doesn’t really fit the aesthetic of car well. I had one in my Mercedes, but they did a much better job with the dash...

    In a dilemma… Help.

The CT5 cannot be upgraded to 5G. It is possible to get a standalone 5G setup. Sunset announcements are expected to began in 2030+. Meaning we probably have another few years past that before 4G is really gone. I’m going to enjoy by beautiful car and not worry about it.

    2025 5-BW Precision Package Questions...

True, but there’s a distinction between a sloppy package and getting your package sloppy. Back to the car. It seems the PP lives up to its name being a precise and targeted attack by GM on the customer’s wallet. 😛

    2025 5-BW Precision Package Questions...

The more I think about it, the choice of naming on the PP is odd. I guess my 22 has the sloppy package.

    2025 5-BW Precision Package Questions...

+1. For someone only running on the public roads, it’s just bragging rights. Nothing wrong with that I suppose. If someone wants it and has the extra $$, go for it. I have CCBs by circumstance, but glad I have them just for no brake dust and they look badass. There may be a small improvement in...

    2025 5-BW Precision Package Questions...

The PP setup is only going to be noticeable and beneficial on the track. For street, a complete waste of money.

Multi-topic thread on retirement and second car

Don’t tell anyone, but my sources tell me he’s leading the plot to overthrow the Canadian government and replace it with a communist regime. It’s all part of a broader plan for a US invasion and takeover of Canada. His cover is a retired fed worker that drives a BW.
