Absolute Dearth of All-Season Tires for CT5-V Blackwing

I don't know about everybody else, but the words "High Performance" and Winter driving don't mix in my world. Driving a 670 HP rear-wheel-drive car in snow and ice is a big risk, even with snow tires. Once the brine crap starts hitting the road my BW and Corvette get parked. The Corvette has...

    6,000+ mile owner review 2024 CT5-V Blackwing

No question the 6th gen ZL1 provided a lot of "Bang for the Buck" out of the GM Performance line. I added darn near $11,000 in options to my C8 build just to keep pace with what came standard on the ZL1. Having said that, the 5BW is in a completely different league than the ZL1 and dare I say...

    6,000+ mile owner review 2024 CT5-V Blackwing

No question the ZL1 felt like you were driving inside a bunker. It definitely wasn't known for its great visibility. The C8 isn't much better. Thank God for blind spot sensors! GM finally using wideband O2 sensors instead of the narrowband contributes to much of the perceived performance...

    6,000+ mile owner review 2024 CT5-V Blackwing

Thanks! My other "fun" car is a 2021 C8 Corvette convertible. I've posted several times on the Corvette Forum that in my opinion, the CT5-V Blackwing is the BEST performance car GM is currently building. The Corvette guys don't want to hear that. If the top didn't go down on the Corvette, I...

    6,000+ mile owner review 2024 CT5-V Blackwing

I came to my 2023 5BW from a 2017 M6 Camaro ZL1 coupe. I loved my ZL1. A 5BW with a manual transmission was the ONLY car I would trade my ZL1 for. So far the BW has not disappointed. It is head and shoulders above the ZL1 when it comes to fit, features, and performance. I don't know what the...

CT5-V Blackwing: Slight Yaw/Rotation under hard throttle

I don't understand why they're not sending a replacement ECM? That would seem to be the fastest and easiest fix. I had a bad ECM on a 2015 Chevy Silverado. Dealer order a replacement, tied it to my truck's VIN and 2 days later I picked up the truck.

Conti Extreme Contact dws06 plus vs. Michelin Pilot Sport all season 4 ?

I think this is more of a CYA on GM's part. I've had summer only tires on three GM vehicles that were stored for the winter here in Ohio. Now granted, the tires were on the car but as long as you don't drive on them below 30 degrees, the tires have been fine with no cracking. I can't see where...

    HP Increases

That was my point. You gotta pay to play. As others have mentioned, you'll void the powertrain warranty. This is another potential out-of-pocket cost if something happens to the engine from tuning and/or modification. And trust me, not all mods/tuning goes well. I know this from experience...

    HP Increases

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the cost of tuning a car running on GM's Global B platform. 1. You have to remove and send the ECM to HP turners to have it unlocked. That's $1500. 2. Next you'll need to purchase an MPV3 dongle from HP Tuners, that's $400. 3. The Blackwings require 8...

    Oiled Air Filters

I ran a Green panel filter in my 2017 ZL1 for years and now run one in my 5BW. I think horsepower gains with an aftermarket panel filter (oiled or dry) is negligible but I do believe they improve throttle response slightly over the paper OEM filter. I think the issue of oil getting on the...

    Software update letter from Cadillac?

The update fixes a drained battery issue when performing an OTA update. It affects cars on GM's global B platform, such as C8 Corvettes, Blackwing Cadillacs, and some trucks.

    Z06 guys are lucky

The build quality and ride of the BW are superior to the ZL1. I don't feel like I'm in a bunker in the Cadillac. Having owned the ZL1 for almost 8 years I have a pretty good feel regarding the power of the stock LT4. It feels "goosed" in the Cadillac. More than just an 18-hp increase. I...

    Z06 guys are lucky

I don't own a C8 Z06, however, my other "play" car is a 2021 Stingray hardtop convertible. First off, let me say I despise the dual-clutch transmission. In my opinion, it is by far the biggest disappointment I have with the C8. I hate the shift points. First and second gear are way too short...

    Michelin PS4S issue

I bought my 5BW used with 9700 miles on it. The first thing I discovered after purchase was the steering wheel was not centered. The red band at the top of the steering was left of center when going straight. I immediately had an alignment done at the dealer. Unfortunately, I don't have the...

CT5-V CCBs soon to be available for 5BW! Yes, carbon ceramic rotors for iron-disc cars.

The C7 Corvettes do not have eBoost brakes or "brake by wire". Brake by Wire is part of the Global B platform (C8 Corvettes and Blackwings). It makes sense that changes in software tuning need to occur if switching from iron rotors and pads to CCBs. There has to be an adjustment of pedal feel...

    CT5-V Supercharger Seized

My previous 2017 Camaro ZL1 had a bad bearing in the supercharger idler pulley. It made a God-awful squealing noise and vibration. So yes, bearings related to the supercharger can be defective and ultimately cause the supercharger to seize. Was your engine making any weird noise before this...

    CT5-V Carmax experience

I've looked at this option. Yes, I'm disappointed my 5BW doesn't have the review camera mirror, but I'm not $900 disappointed.

    CT5-V Carmax experience

I bought my 2023 5BW from a high-end used car dealer in May. It had 9700 miles when I bought it. The original sticker price was $112K. I paid $96K. The car has every option I would have ordered including the stage 1 & 2 carbon fiber packages. However, it wasn't ordered with the parking option...

MPG problem on new 2024 CT5-V Blackwing

If you're averaging 18 mpg per city driving, I suggest you seriously consider the lemon law in your state. I would also call GM Customer Service to register a complaint about gas mileage so they have it on record when you Lemon Law your BW. No 5BW should be getting more than 13 mpg in the city...

    CT5 BW CAI - Finally

Anyone considering swapping out the stock intake for one with an open airbox should watch this video. GM designs their engines with a closed airbox for a reason.
