Dealer says my 2023 CT4-V B/W with 14K miles needs rear break pads replaced? I love this car and a pretty gentle driver.

Don’t blame the “American” car. Did you take the 90 seconds to inspect the pads/rotors yourself? Based on your post (and the OP) seems most likely that you’re just getting ripped off, replacing parts that don’t need replacement…. And that’s not the cars fault…

    Break in 6MT fluid change

I have a set of quick jacks. Why are you concerned to turn the car on off the ground?

    Break in 6MT fluid change

I did. Probably kind of pointless in my opinion, but it only took five minutes, so why not… I think this is probably much more relevant for an automatic transmission change where the pump needs to circulate everything.

    Break in 6MT fluid change

Yes of course cracking the fill loose as step 1 is always best practice and common sense

    Break in 6MT fluid change

If I recall, the fill plug is just a 1/2 “ drive similar to the diff plugs. There are no plastic plugs-both are metal. Just the connector for the temp sensor (there is no “level sensor”) is plastic, but you shouldn’t be wrenching on that at all. This is an easy job. 45 mins maximum. From my...

Im confused…. Look at the brake pads. Take a picture and post here if you're unsure.

    Alignment

Short answer is no. Not aware of any aftermarket camber plates that give more adjustability or adjustable control arms/hubs. I guess you could try stiffer springs like swifts? The lowering will add a hair a camber due to mcpherson strut design and stiffen the roll moment

    Alignment

Ok, this making a bit more sense. There’s alot happening here. If you try to drive a front engine car like a rear engine car, you’re gonna struggle. While I love 4S tire for dual duty, its going to struggle at 10/10 for 25 mins on an abrasive track and high temps. Lastly, the 4BW is still 3800...

    Alignment

Do you drive the car on the street? I think any additional solution will absolutely kill Street drivability. Therefore, honestly, I think you’re cheapest in the long run solution is dedicated track car. That said, not trying to be a jerk, but if you are chewing shoulders with the track...

    CT4-V CT4 V blackwing vs RS3 6 months later

That thing has a monster spec sheet. But also….5,000lbs!!!

    Suspension question

I see the points in the previous couple posts. I cant find much to argue with-except one point. The BW (ESPECIALLY the 4 BW) is literally all about feel. If you want a faster lap time, an M3 will get you there. What draws folks (including me) to the BW and away from BMW is the driving...

CT4-V Disappointed after lengthy Test drive

Yep, my list of complaints on the 4BW is quite short: its TOO composed and refined all of the time. Its too serious-it only wants to go around a corner the fastest way. Thats great except for when i want to be a bit of an idiot and get tail happy-its too damn composed to unsettle at legal-ish...

    Suspension question

Like I said, I did not have a chance to track the car before I adjusted the alignment so I can’t answer the question about lap times. That said, I don’t really think it’s much of a leap to assume that additional camber will improve lap times, especially considering GM specifies the track...

    Suspension question

Yeah, in retrospect I wish I just went with the track alignment. Next season I’ll likely get it realigned to the full track alignment.

    In a dilemma… Help.

I love how the 24s look like a car inside— not a spaceship. Best of both worlds IMO-old school gage cluster shape with filly digital Ans customizable config. The 25 looks like youre piloting the Enterprise and ready to engage the warp drive…. Like most other new cars

    Suspension question

Make no mistake- the first time I ever drove this car on the stock alignment I thought to myself “ this is the best car I’ve ever driven”. It’s actually surprising that turn in, roadholding, and feel can actually be improved!!! YMMV, but i for sure highly recommend it. $200 for an aligment with...

    Suspension question

I disagree. I went from the standard street alignment to kind of hybrid street/track alignment (-2 deg front, just adjusted at the knuckle-not strut tower adjustment, -1.75 deg rear, very slight toe in-essentially zero toe with a toe in bias) and noticed a significant difference in turn in even...

CT4-V Disappointed after lengthy Test drive

We have engineers here! First, to be a jerk (get it?), i believe jerk is the 3rd derivative of distance (velocity first, acceleration second, jerk 3rd). To be less of a jerk, I totally agree. I do think its the linearity (less jerk) that makes things “feel” less lively. I also agree with...
