Options impact on resale

Have a few used CT5bw’s on the line and having trouble picking. How much impact is there on resale value for things like PDR and the carbon 1 package? I know seats are big, at least for me. Right now I’m down to 3.
A 23 with big miles, but carbon 1, nice seats, PDR, sunroof.
For 7k more a 22, but with a 4th of the mileage, but no PDR or carbon.
And another 10k more a 25 w/ no PDR or carbon. More warranty, really nice seats, but I’m still not in love the with the changes inside and out.

I think it's like an oil thread, everyone has opinions. I'd say the transmission is probably the biggest polarizing option, but I assume you've already narrowed passed that. I'd put CCB top of the list on an individual tastes, then you get down in the weeds on sunroof, CF1/2, and colors that all influence the desirability for a smaller segment of buyers.

My personal decision tree would be the '22 since mileage is the biggest resale detractor all else being equal. I too don't like the '25 refresh, made the car too soft looking and too EV on the inside.

In my opinion the more options the better resale but if you could plot it on a chart the older the car gets the more the options will return value. It’s M6 and then everything else after that.

Not sure if the ‘25 you are looking at has the Precision Package, but performance options are usually sought after in the long term (especially when combined with a manual).

Carbon 1 is a must for me. The car looks rather pedestrian without it, and it’s one of the few options future buyers will immediately notice — and actually pay for. PDR is great for personal use but almost invisible at resale. The sunroof is basically neutral unless someone specifically wants it. Both add minimal value.

OP, your real challenge is mileage. That will have a far bigger impact on resale than any option choice.

I'd be less inclined to go for options that could be added later but thats just me. I just traded my 22 with almost every option, 4k miles, for a 25 with only a couple options and 10k miles. The warranty part was big for me in that decision too.

To me, not in any order, is 2022-2024, mileage, color, CF1, seats. From there, it doesn't really matter. Sunroof would be nice, CCB would be cool, PDR is pretty neat, but you should have Surround Vision standard, which is really better for everyday, unless you're on the track.

I think it's more about condition and history. Regardless of mileage, you can buy an extended warranty depending on how long you hope to keep it.

Of the options you listed, CF1 or 2 can be easily (relatively) added later, especially for a 5BW although at some expense for factory parts. I wouldn't let that be a determining factor IMO. I added the full CF1 to my 4BW including the dive planes and I'm happy with it.

Well when I was working a deal to trade my 4 BW for a 911, they always asked me if it had PDR. If not they said it would cut 2 to 3k off the value.

I think this is going to be an unpopular opinion for 22-24 owners (I’m a proud 22 owner myself).

But thus far I have yet to hear about a 25 5BW randomly blowing a LT4 and they have been out well over a year.

By comparison within 1 year, several examples of 22-24 cars listed here and not listed here have blown their motors.

Whatever the actual incidence of blown LT4s are, the perception of LT4s in the 22 to 24 cars is going to eventually make it by FAR the biggest determination of resale values. Look at 991.1 vs 991.2 GT3 values.

So if resale value matters to you, then 150% get the 2025.

When I traded my '22 for the '25, that was largely in my mind. And because my 5 is a summer/weekend car only, I wasn't going to see 20k miles for a long time. I'd have been really pissed if the 22 blew up with super low miles but entirely out of warranty.

assuming one has a decent car, salesmanship skills can go a long way in resale price. Pray on their weaknesses like vanity and ego.
