Got the passenger side wheel off and measured the rotor thickness, a little over 32mm, so I'm gonna bring it into the shop since I have the rotors anyway and also need a rear wheel bolt replaced after townfaire tire stripped in during winter changeover.
A little disappointed since I was...
Yup, I have everything I need, my only concern is being able to deal with the wear sensors, does anyone have any kind of guide or instructions to follow for removing/replacing them? I wouldn't mind using a ziptie on the old ones to move them out of the way.
I'm ordering a caliper measure to check the thickness, I haven't noticed any strange behavior on braking other than maybe weaker bite so hopefully I can just do the pads and return the rotors. Would the rotors require any resurfacing?
Good question, car has only had occasional autocross, but the car has 57k miles on it. Dealership wanted to do rotors and pads for front and back. Front and rear pads are definitely done (sensor just went off), and I remember hearing that with the Blackwings, GM says to replace both the pads...
I'm considering attempting the replacement myself with oem pads and rotors I bought from rockauto.
From my research the front wheels aren't too difficult other than the pad sensor, but the rears can be more difficult.
I've found a shop willing to install the parts for me, but I'd love to be...
How much a pain in the ass would doing the work myself be? I hear bleeding brakes is a bitch, but it sounds like I stand to save thousands of dollars and would be able to replace the brakes now vs months down the line.
Also wondering if I should just source the parts myself and bring it to an independent shop? Seems even the OEM parts are available for under MSRP online. 3380 for everything instead of 4845.
Ive definitely stretched further than I should, haven't noticed braking problems but visually the pads are quite thin. I dont drive as hard as I used to, but I've done a session of autocross. Currently at 50k miles.
I'm due for pads and rotors for my 4BW but the dealer says that oem's are backordered til July, and with tax are almost 5k! Does anyone have experience/recommend aftermarket options, or should I just pay to order them from the dealer and wait until July?
I unfortunately procrastinated on winter tires this year, I currently have 2 255/35/18 PA4's for my front tires, but no 265's for the rear. My question is if there was an alternative tire I could source for the rears, such as going non staggered with 255/35/18's in the rear, or 265/40/18's in...
https://tkgtcars-import.com/collections/us-inventory/products/1100508 what do y'all think, almost stock and looks rust free, dealer says it was bought from a single owner, carvx is clean. I'm seriously considering booking a flight to LA...
