I live in sports car heaven up here in the North Georgia Mountains. I have more roads to choose from then you can count on both hands and both feet. My favorite road is a well paved black top with very little traffic, great sight lines and is 12 miles long with 65 curves. Using this and other roads I ran through three sets of tires with my 1986 Ferarri Mondial 3.2 QV in 15,000 miles. YEAH!

Anyway, my 2014 CTS V Sport is not just good on such roads, it is dumbfoundingly good. The active rear differential is just flat our magic. Between it and a perfectly tuned stability control? Well. Wow.

It took awhile to get used to 420 hp. I was rather intimidated to apply full power in the corners but nothing sudden or weird ever happened. The small amount of turbo lag gives the active differential and stability control time to do there things without getting caught off guard.

Still, I dare not run full tilt between some of the turns because I would end up approaching the next turn at very deep triple digit speeds. Where the Ferrari was capable of 115mph and easy slow down for the next curve (three seconds firm braking), this car would need an actual race track to learn all the brake timing needed.

And no tickets with either car.......though the cops converged on the Ferrari a couple of times. Thank heaven for good sight lines!
