Took my car (2022 BW5 auto) in for its annual oil change. (Only had 2500 miles since last oil change.) According to my receipt. They used 8.8 quarts of 0-W40 ESP oil. Is this the correct oil that the dealer should be using on my car ? I thought they had an oil referred to as "Super Car oil" that was used on our cars. Oils change their names all the time and was just wondering if this is correct or do I need to go back.

From what I recall, the “ESP” is what the oil was before they rebranded it to “Supercar” - it’s the same oil.

The bigger question is why did they short you 0.2 qts?

Either they shorted me 1.2 quarts or under charged me. I just checked all of the past 4 oil changes and ALL of them have 8.8 quarts on the receipt. I doubt they drain all 10 quarts and that there are still pockets of residual oil in the engine block. Of course, today was a beautiful day and I washed the car. Literally, 10 minutes into my drive, a bird with dysentery unloaded on my car !

The engine oil capacity is actually 9 qts...not 10. So they only shorted you 0.2 qts. Most likely that they don't bother to wait for the engine to fully drain.

AI often mushes a bunch of stuff together and states it as fact. I would recommend clicking through to the citations and If no citations, look for a better answer.

I deleted the post where I conjectured it was the Escalade-V that took 10 qts. I was wrong, it was the Camaro ZL1. The Escalade-V only takes 8. The C7 Z06 actually takes 9.8 qts (dry sump).

Bottom line: you don't appear to be getting shorted on your oil. The 0.2 qts. shortfall is probably to ensure you aren't getting overfilled. No oil mousse for you!

I read it on the internet.........so it has to be true.:ROFLMAO:

The ESP is now approved but the oil is not the same as Supercar as I believe the additive pack is different.
