Just returned from the Cadillac Performance Academy and wished I had opted for the PDR. Can the system be added post delivery through the dealership.

No cannot be added later. But there are many aftermarket solutions including the high-end Vbox Motorsports.

May be a dumb question, but I see the PDR add (which I didn't order). Is there any PDR functionality without adding the $1700 PDR option? Meaning does car have any maps or data related to tracks if I didn't opt for the full PDR with the front camera?

That is an impressive Laguna lap time @PrimeTime, even if you did exceed track limits a few times 🤪 I've only been at Laguna on two wheels, and while my lap times are a bit faster, not lifting on T1 (right about where the bridge is for folks not familiar with the track) on a bike took a LOT of laps. I still prefer Sears Point over Laguna.

Nope, not my lightning lap. I have yet to do Laguna Seca. It's on the bucket list for me next year.

This is an example for the OP of the view and data sets from the Garmin PDR which obviously does not feature the additional brake and accelerator bars and a few other trinkets like the factory BW PDR. The Cosworth software in the factory PDR is fantastic. Other than the aforementioned, IMHO it's a suitable aftermarket value for the track enthusiast that did not get it as a factory option with their BW.

Happy Turkey Day to all!

What all entailed with the purchase/install of the Garmin Catalyst aftermarket PRD unit? I have a 5BW without PDR and would like some type of recording device.
Thanks
Mike

Check this out, depends on your needs Hope it helps.

The Gamin takes less than 5 minutes to install. The tablet itself is held up via a suction cup mount with multiple adjustment points. there is a stick-on camera mount that is installed centered and as high as possible. Otherwise you plug in a 5V power adapter, snap on the camera and plug in a few wires. the only thing that stays in the car is the camera mount which is small and hard to notice. It's a well designed system.

Nice lap.

Thanks guys for your feed back, I'm looking for something for the twisty roads and occasional track day. I should've ensure that my BW had the PDR option before I purchased, would've made life a lot easier.

Would you have photo of the placement of the catalyst and camera in your car that I could use for example? Thanks.

AIM Smarty cam with sensor that plugs right into the OBD port. Then you get all the car’s data as you drive.

So, I've got an AIM SmartyCam HD in my race car. What cables would I need in order to run it in my Blackwing?

There another thread out there on the camaro fourms:

I've sourced all the parts and it could get done for <$650. The biggest issue i've run into is the programming. Because this is going to be my only vehicle, I dont have the GM MDI unit, and I see it cost over $1200 for the unit on ebay... anyone have a alternative way to get this done?

If you have a good dealer service department they may reprogram the car for you otherwise you might find an independent shop with the right programming tool that will do the work for a reasonable fee.

If you were less than scrupulous you could buy the tool on Amazon and return it after you used it.
