I am a retired Chevrolet dealer. We were the largest Corvette dealer in the Pacific Northwest for many years. I have had too many Corvettes to count. A couple of years ago, I went to the famed Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale and came home with a 2012 C7 ZR1 Corvette - which I bought from from Van Chevrolet, just a mile away from the auction. That car was very impressive, but was a bit loud for me and had too much "stuff" hanging from the front end that was just waiting for the perfect dip in the road to break it off.
I had a friend who had bought a new C8 Corvette and went to the Ron Fellows driving school. When he came back, he kept talking about the Blackwings that he had seen there and all of the great comments the instructors had made about the cars. Based on that, and some research, I decided that a Blackwing 6 speed would be a better fit for me than the ZR1. The long and the short of it, I sold the ZR1 and bought a 2023 Blackwing!
Enough about the buying experience - Today I took the Blackwing to the 1/8th mile drags. Please keep in mind that I am a bit sensitive about the price of tires, so I may have babied it a bit off of the line, but I turned in a consistent 8.1** seconds in the 1/8th at around 95 mph. Although it wasn't as fast in the 1/8th as I had hoped, it's still a monster in my mind. I call it a ZR1 four door.
