So wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
So last month driving in my CT4, I noticed out of the corner of my eye..., or at least I thought I did..., see my digital dash go dark, then back on.
I thought to myself..., did I just see that, or am I tripping?
Over the next few drive cycles/days I did notice it happening, and it would go off..., then come back on.
Obviously this was concerning for a multiple of reasons..., and the #1 reason was..., my B2B warranty runs out at the end of the month.
So yeah...., didn't want to pay for a new digi dash.
It progressively got worse to where it would go dark for the rest of the trip, only to start working again the next day or cycle.
It would not work if you turned the car off, and restarted. The only constant was that it would go dark 15 to 45 minutes into the drive,
and the next day upon starting the car fresh, it would recycle and start working.
Thank gawd for the HUD.
Initially every time I took it to the dealer when it was happening, it would start working again when I went to show them.
I'm thinking these guys at the dealer think I'm nuts.
Like the guys who swears he saw bigfoot....
Anyhow, I was finally able to show them the dash had gone out.
After several days in the shop, they tried to tell me that my USB plug in my 12v, and my radar detector was causing interference,
and referenced a GM bulletin saying as much, and mentioned radio (radarDetec) interference, as well as maybe amperage issues. They were grasping I thought.
I asked them..., well, how come I've never heard of anyone else having this issue with their cars and using their 12v ports.., and did this happen (dash go out) when the 12v issues were unplugged?
They said once the 12v things were unplugged, they could not recreate the issue with the dash going out.
This did not sound correct to me, so I was looking to get a 2nd opinion from another dealer...., however, never made it to that step.
On the way home from the dealer, and all my 12v assets unplugged..., it went out again.
Pissed..., at the next u turn around, I fishtailed it hard..., out of frustration..., and hoping the jolt somehow would make the dash come back on. Nope!
Long story short....., They have decided to replace the primary CPU for the digital dash. Not sure what is involved in that..., but I better not have any rattles anywhere in my dash afterwards.
Normally, I would not see the value in purchasing an extended warranty..., But I think I'm going to price some GM extended warranty plans.
The reason for this in my mind is..., My 22 was an early production model -013, and being that, maybe they hadn't worked out all the bugs, or used pre production hard/software prior to the regular run of the BW...,
or it was an friday at the factory.
