2026 CT5-V
The 3.0 liter twin turbo in the CT5-V is factory rated at 360 horsepower. Back in the day, around 1970 or so, 360 was the number various General Motors divisions quoted for the horsepower rating of some of their monster big blocks when they didn't want insurance companies and competing car companies to know the real horsepower output of some of their engines. Has anyone seen any independent testing of this engine's power output?

On a side note, just got confirmation from Cadillac a couple of days ago that my V has been built, now I'm just wondering how long until it's delivered. The Cadillac chat bot that confirmed the build said anywhere from 3-12 weeks. I started trying to order this car in January, hope it doesn't drag out too much longer!

Today' s advertised horsepower numbers are certified accurate. Otherwise, significant penalty can apply. Having said all that, the car's performance numbers tell you all you need to know. Good luck on the delivery!

Until the early 70’s, HP ratings were in “gross” figures, pretty much like running on an engine stand with no accessories or realistic exhaust back pressure, etc. Since then, the figures have been in “net” numbers, still taken at the crank, but with more realistic “as installed into vehicle” numbers. The difference between the two was like 25% or so.

So back in the gristle car days, 360 net HP would have been more like 480 “marketing” HP 😄

Keep in mind the 360 hp is at the crankshaft. You will lose power through the drivetrain. Approximately 15%.

Burger motorsports has a dyno of a stock ct5v with around 360whp on 93 octane. New cars are very dependent on quality of fuel to meet their horsepower goals.

Just a note that any car with greater than 300 hp is a fun car. Enjoy it!
