I hereby propose a new topic for us to argue about: Whose car has the highest lifetime average RPM?

Obviously the higher the number = you are driving your car harder = you are a better Blackwing owner. This is not a thread for grandmas, hypermilers, or cars still in break-in.

To get your RPM data, go to the Maintenance section of your display, scroll to the bottom, and take a photo of the Engine Life data. To calculate your average lifetime RPM, perform the following math:

1. Subtract Idle Hours from Hours to get Driving Hours
2. Multiply Driving Hours by 60 to get Driving Minutes
3. Multiply Revs/10,000 by 10,000 to get Total Revs
4. Divide Total Revs by Driving Minutes to get your Lifetime Average RPM.

Here is mine as of last night (4BW Manual):

My example math:
1. 158.6 - 43.1 = 115.5 hours
2. 115.5 x 60 = 6,930 minutes
3. 1732 x 10,000 = 17,320,000 Total Revs
4. 17,320,000 / 6,930 = 2,499.3 RPM (4BW M)

Can anyone top that? My suspicion is that 5BWs will have lower numbers than 4s, and automatics will have much lower numbers than manuals. So we will split the categories into 5BW A, 5BW M, 4BW A, and 4BW M. Who will win each category? I suspect those who track their cars will have a distinct advantage as well.

Report your Average RPM, Car, and Transmission below!

1) 310.5-72.1=238.4
2) 238.4*60=14,304
3) 3543*10000 = 35,430,000
4) 35,430,000/14304 = 2476.92 (4BW M)

Damn. Im already not winning! This is a very cool thread, though.

I got 99 problems, but Math problems?

Damnit, can't you just look at porn or something...

Anyway, I'm one of those good at math types, so here you go:
1. 276.8 - 79.7 = 197.1 hours
2. 197.1 x 60 = 11,826 minutes
3. 2,586 x 10,000 = 25,860,000 Total Revs
4. 25,860,000 / 11,826 = 2,186.7 RPM (5BW 6MT)

Ok for winter I'm using this thing as my commuter and usually puttering around 1500-2k rpms. It's depressing.

I'm quite curious what widgets were going to have for our sport mode gauge. Everyone got different priorities.

Sounds like an interesting and fun exercise but I wonder how to account for confounding of a categorical variable: urban vs highway driving? I would assume that once you strip out idle time, all else being equal, just spending more time in a big city is going to make your score much higher??

I'll grab my numbers soon and share.

Before or after, I ran it down.

ok im in. LMS?

Thank you.

Know this, half of my mileage is from 3 road trips and I did a break in to 1600mi. I suspect this will change a year from now.

1. 94.3−22.7=71.6
2. 71.6x60=4,296
3. 894x10,000=8,940,000
4. 8,940,000/4,296=2,081.00 RPM 5BW 6Spd Manual
5. 3391/(94.3-22.7)=47.36 Avg Moving MPH

319.8 - 66.5 =253.3
253.3 X 60 = 15,198
3162 X 10,000 = 31,620,000
31,620,000 / 15,198 = 2080.5
