Are you maxed out with fuel system again? I was under the impression with the high pressure pump and bigger cam lobe we would have enough fuel system to go full e85 on the stock turbo's.
Yes, I had the jb4, which has been in it for most of it's life and is still in it. A fair margin of people stated they did not have anything in the obd port when it happened to them.
While this hasn't happened to me since the one time a year? ago (edit- 2 years ago), it's always in the back of my mind. Was cruising through tsb's for the car and came across #PIC6536A (Mar 3, 2025). Diagnostic tip for no crank no start or loss of power steering.

Also, if you touch the clutch it will cut ignition, I had a habit of just putting a touch of pressure on the clutch in anticipation of shifting and sometimes it was enough to cut the ignition making it feel like a fuel cut or rev limiter.
It would definitely be a loud one, but it wouldn't surprise me. Next time it happens put your hand on it and see if it goes with the rhythm of the noise. It's the only thing that would be that intermittent in my mind.
