Checking back in here to close the loop on this. Thought it was a bumpy ride, Tapout worked with me throughout to finally get my car buttoned back up. To recap:
First set of dive planes was dremeled on so much that the tabs were wafer thin and snapped with minimal effort
Second set was much...
Just picked mine up with the exact same coverage. Xpel Ultimate full front and lower impact (or maybe it's rear impact?) area coverage.
I also asked for just the a-pillars from Xpel's roof kit. I hate that I have a line on my a-pillar now, but love that it won't take a rock chip and that I can...
Yeah, I saw this on reddit and gave it a shot. Unless mine quickly un-tightened itself, this didn't fix whatever mine was/ is.
I'm a bit rattle obsessed (usually for worse than for better), and I've learned that sound in cars has a crazy ability to travel. So other noises ID'd by forum members...
Whoops - yep... It's corny but I hadn't had cofee yet when I posted that. I've edited my post.
Tapout said they've installed multiple sets with the bumper on the car. I'm with you, and largely because of your posts, I assumed you had to remove bumper to install.
So that post (now edited) is me...
Quick update... The replacement set of diveplanes TT sent were better. Knowing what I know now and having seen two sets, it really seems like the first set might have been returned from someone who encountered the same problem I did and tried to dremel their way out of it.
Regardless, i was...
Yikes. A lot of the symptoms I've heard sound like what might happen if a critical CAN issue was going on... like if a tiny wire in just the right place was cut or grounding where it wasn't supposed to. But the fact this "corrected" itself after a reset like that is odd.
Although if there's one...
I posted all my findings over at this thread in case that's helpful:

Also I found Dirkbg's bumper removal tips helpful and added some my thoughts on the process in this post...
Yeah, fair points. Maybe it makes sense to unattach the supports, fit dive planes, and re-expoxy then.
Either way I hope this is a moot point, as Tapout is sending me some replacements which will hopefully arrive in time to get this done over the weekend. I'll definitely be updating this...
Yep, makes sense and unfortunately this is what I couldn't do because multiple clips were so thin and brittle.
I know the plastic welds are pretty weak on these... that's a good idea. Could see about unbonding them to allow for some wiggle room.
Glad to help! They definitely click into place, yes. And I couldn't get a good enough picture of the back side of the upper piece, but that's where they click back in (as opposed to the front where you've circled).
Thanks y'all, appreciate the acknowledgement of receipt and the reassurance. Definitely understand the time off - it's been a long year. Hope everyone gets some good unplugged time.
Thanks - seems as though you're the pioneer on so much of these mods, ha.
It sounds like our sets were...
Ok, see pics... there is indeed a male tab on the lower portion and a female tab on the upper portion. The male tab is hooked so that it sort of clicks into the upper portion's female uh, receptacle.
Also included a pic of the backside of the bumper showing how that gloss black piece is...
I think about this often. I would happily pay someone if they could permanently address rattles.
I've become an amateur version of this at least. I've got panel tools and spare interior clips for all the vehicles I've owned. I keep dynamat and felt tape "in stock." I discovered buying...
Thanks for the reply and I think your experience was common... most of us wanted CF1 and 2 cars but they just weren't around in great enough numbers so here we are!
You're right - if you do what Dirkbg did and mod your own non-CF bumper to accept the Tapout parts you might have more...
