    Power Steering warning

I did have the wiring recall done. By 1970 powersteering, I mean you sneeze on the wheel and it turns. Very, very, very little effort to turn the wheel now. I've turned Vmode on and off several times. That's how I got the warning the first time. I accidentally hit mode, then quickly pressed...

    Power Steering warning

I just got the POWER STEERING ISSUE DETECTED POWER ASSIST WILL BE REDUCED SOON PLEASE SERVICE POWER STEERING After the message went off, I have hardly any resistance at all to the steering. It feels like I'm driving something from 1970. I have an appointment, but they said if the message...

CT5-V Junk fees on purchase of new car.

Perma plate??? Is that vehicle protection? I can tell you...tell them you aren't interested. You can put that $1200 toward ppf or a ceramic coating that will last much longer and protect your car much longer. You're paying for a piece of paper and a substance that takes them 20min to install...

    Code P0300 - Should I be worried?

So with GM and all other makes, you can "pend" a code. Which means that the computer detected an anomoly, and if it happens another x-times, the CEL will set. Many people don't know this. I had an issue on my other car where boost was cut in half, but no CEL. I would have a "pending" p2178...

    Accessories

If you order from Savage, they supply you with a small common screwdriver. Find the tab, push the screwdriver up into that tab on the mirror and pry inward. The light pops out. Disconnect the 2 wires and reconnect on the new puddle light and insert till it clicks. Align the light by twisting...

    CT5-V Blackwing preignition / pinging

The stock PCM should adjust the timing for any fuel down to 87 to keep the engine safe. Unless, you've tuned it. I have a 2.0L turbo car that is dyno tuned that absolutely MUST have 93. My recommendation is try a little "octane" boost in a can and see if it helps. Don't use the entire...

    Code P0300 - Should I be worried?

With GM's history of never being able to fix P0300 on any of my previous GM vehicles....this could end badly for you. Hopefully they figure it out and fix it. But from my experience with a boosted GM car, it could be: - unmetered air getting in/out between MAPs - bad plug(s) - bad coil - bad...

Water on the Driver's side floor mat and carpet

I had a similar issue with a Camaro a few years back. It turns out from all of the body twist that the welds had let loose below the windshield on the firewall and allowed water to enter.

    Blackwing alignment

So the Camaro 1LE has a "track alignment" camber notch that moves the camber to -1.9 IMSMC. I'm assuming, since the BW is very close to the Camaro 1LE, that it would have the same?

    Steel rotor brake pad replacement

Want clean wheels and no squeals? Ceramic....but they increase stopping distance. Do we really need 2 piece rotors?

    Is it a toy?

Mine will be a year round, MI, rain or snow, daily when I'm not driving company cars. I already have 1 garage queen (a dyno tuned 2008 Pontiac Solstice with 90k on it and pushing almost 375hp out of a 2.0L), I don't need 2. Don't get me wrong, I will be driving a company car if it's snowing!!!

    Winter Storage

Most gasoline with its "winter blend" already has an anti-freeze in it. Us older guys know it as Liquid Heet. This used to be used to remove water from the fuel and keep it from freezing in your lines. But, most gasoline refineries now add this online and it's no longer really needed. Or at...

    Winter Storage

I am also in agreeance!!! Modern cars "sleep" after xxx hours or xx days. In many cases during a set number of days, the relays turn off one by one until all relays are shutoff (even clocks and radio presets) and battery draw is minimal....until someone touches the car and causes it to wake...

    Discount Tire rant....

I purchased all-weather tires for my car on Wednesday. They came in yesterday, but had no appts available to install them. I agreed to an appt at 3pm today. I left work an hour early to make it there by 3pm today. I arrive and I'm told that they had a transformer blow up out back and it took...

What did you do to your Blackwing today?

Did you have a Solstice/Sky Don???? We had a guy named Don on the forums over there that would always type his name after his comments....just wondering.

    Stainless Works Exhausts

I doubt there is room for any hp gains. The one thing GM does is well is allow their performance vehicles to breath very well. So you might get 5hp....and then if the PCM is locked, it will just be a few key cycles before it learns down that extra 5hp.

    Winter Storage

So only store it with about 3/4 because you can then go and fill it up immediately. Just a fee gallons of fresh gas will get rid of any moisture and freshen up the old stuff. As I said, when I had my Mustang (it was a showcar and i had accidentally left it out that night), a neighbor that...

I have the white and black seats. What can I use to keep them clean?

My temp doesn't come up quickly

I know from experience that your oil temp is supposed to get above 200F to evaporate any gasoline in your oil...and with a HPFP, it leaks fuel excessively into the oil during cold startup. And mine does not get above 192F.
