approaching 2 years with 11,000 miles (debadged) and no one has ever asked if it is a Blackwing. Lots of questions, stares and head snaps, but people just don't know what it is and I love it.
Edit for addition - and when I say it's a manual, they say, "oh like with paddles? those are cool." NO...
100% a concern! I moved 155 miles away from a trusted dealer and am pondering having her flat-bedded there as I have no interest in driving 12 hours - 3 there and back to drop off and pick up.
thanks for all the inputs. I forgot a word - vibration. It is present in 6th at 80 and ramps up noticeably as it accelerate further. Son said at 90, 90+ he felt it in the floor and seat back. Shifted to 5th, vibration and "drone" gone. Guess I'll take it in. Partially because we don't enjoy...
Hi all. Manual 2022 5BW here. Since day one (now 11,000 miles) the car has had an annoying "drone" while cruising on the highway. At 80+ it gets really bad and we have suspected it was either the tires or the exhaust. Now we have a new culprit?.... the gear box? Our son is an certified Volvo...
5 here, 1st popped out a few times on me early-on and before I learned to feel it engage. It just takes being deliberate vs how some rubbery linkages can be casually thrown into 1st. I've come to really enjoy the quality snick and beefiness.
I want to buy this and do a full 5 Blackwing resto-mod on it. off to get a lottery ticket.....

not necessarily a problem/issue, but it appears to have the standard black front lip spoiler, so the rear spoiler might be aftermarket. Just might want to check it out closely. all the best with the potential purchase
I also paid $700 for 5 years on wheel/tire insurance. But... that was when we lived in Philly where most roads - even highways like 95, where/are shit. Florida roads are near perfect compared to that and I would not have gotten it.
for aesthetics or noise reduction? We have a 5 BW and on throttle cruising at 80+ there is a constant drone or tire thrum throughout the cabin. To the point where the wife (she likes the car and drove at Spring Mountain) doesn't want to road trip in it anymore.
my wife drove as well and my receipt from Spring Mountain is for $4,345, which includes insurance for both of us and no doubt a few fees and fees to bill the fees.
I think Toyota has/had it right - plug in hybrids are the answer. Give us 40-50 miles of electric range (well within most commutes and weekend errand trips) with the ICE onboard for longer trips. This would slash our gas and emissions. I like what Porsche is doing (Cayenne plug in with either...
